News & Events
1/10/10: I would like to acknowledge the passing of Chris Bell, a co-author and co-presenter on the AHEAD book project mentioned in previous news updates. I didn't know Chris well; we only met a couple of times, but in our brief acquaintance I came to appreciate Chris for his intellect, humor, warmth, and kindness. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
6/15/08: I have chosen to end my full-time employment with the University of North Texas and relocate back to Austin. This was a difficult decision, but it was the right one for me. I want to express my gratitude to and respect for my colleagues and friends at UNT. I learned a great deal while there, and I met many wonderful, creative, and talented people students, faculty, and staff alike. It was a rich and valuable experience that has and will continue to benefit me. I will continue to teach distance learning classes through UNT, and I hope to maintain my working relationship with UNT for an extended period of time.

4/1/08: The book to which I contributed is available from the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD) at ahead.org. The first printing sold out! Some of the contributors will be presenting at this year's AHEAD conference in Reno. Please attend their session if you are at the conference.
In professional development news: I am working toward certification in executive coaching from the University of Texas at Dallas. They have an innovative distance program with highly professional and motivated faculty and staff. It's a great opportunity, and I've been enjoying the classes very much. If you are interested in my coaching services, please contact me via email with a subject line of "coaching inquiry".
6/17/07: There is a small update to the publications page reflecting the status of a recently-published journal article.
In April, I presented with a group of co-authors at the Multiple Perspectives conference at Ohio State University. It was a great experience for all of us in the group, so we're doing it again at the AHEAD (Association on Higher Education & Disability) conference in Charlotte, NC, on July 21. AHEAD is publishing our book, and we'll have a book signing event before our symposium on July 21. The whole process of working on the book and meeting some of the other contributors has been exciting and enlightening for me. I can't wait to see the final product! When it is available, I will post details of how to obtain the book for those who are interested.

3/20/07: I'm mostly settled in here in Denton. I enjoy working with the students, faculty, and staff here. It's a challenging, yet fun position.
There are a couple of updates to the site, including an update to the Publications section and to my vita. I hope now that I am more settled in I can get back to my blog more often as well.
I'll also be presenting at the Multiple Perspectives conference at Ohio State on April 3. There are a couple other things in the works now, and I'll try to make sure I get those posted in a more timely fashion.
5/1/06: I have accepted a tenure-track faculty position with the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, and will be relocating there beginning August, 2006. I am excited about this opportunity, and I look forward to meeting and working with the students, faculty, and staff at UNT.
